Well, it did finally rain during the night and it's still raining this morning. This is Neal sitting in his chair on the front porch. He will sit there for hours and never get out of the chair. We go and check on him every 15 minutes or so.
We didn't teach him to sit in this chair. It was his idea. One day when we were bringing him in from a walk, he jumped up in the chair and hunkered down as if to say: "I'll stay here. You don't have to take me back inside. I'll be good." We just went along with his suggestion. We put the leash on him and attach it to the chair, but even without the leash he'll stay there.
One morning my partner had let him stay in the chair and went back to the bay window beside the door to check on him. He saw that Neal had gotten down from the chair and was on the porch. By the time my friend turned the door knob, Neal was back in the chair looking up at him. "What? What's the problem?"
He's a smart kitty, the smartest kitty I've ever had. But, it's a particular type of smart. He has no street smarts, just social and people smarts. Burmese are like that.
Oh, I know he looks a little demonic in this photograph with the glowing eyes, but he doesn't really glow in the dark.
