Shark Fishing?

There are some great photos here of sharks off the coast of Georgia.

I eat fish, but don't much like looking at the process of catching and killing them.  This is a website about shark fishing.  On the website, it says that these guys catch and release the sharks.  I don't get this really.  Why would you want to catch them, injure them, and then just release them?  I will stand to have this explained to me, but on first glimpse, I don't understand why, other than the sheer "Mine's bigger than yours" syndrome you would want to do this.  Anybody have any ideas?

I included this because of the photographs.  There are never any reports of shark attacks in the St. Simons/Jekyll/Cumberland/Sapelo area.  But, there was a report of a Great White Shark roaming around Cumberland.  We know she's roaming because somebody caught and tagged her, but I don't think the guys at "Great Shark Fishing" tag the sharks.
